Our Facilities
Stronghold Data has two locations for data centers. Both facilities are located in underground rock quarries in the Mid-West USA, making us virtually indestructible. Both locations have multiple levels of security, including 24-hour security guards and computerized controlled door systems. Through the use of two separate locations, we have the ability to store data redundantly for better protection. Backup generators are installed at each location as well.
Here is a little sample of the technology used in one of our facilities.
Stronghold's backbone internet
connection is via multiple tier 1 carriers. We are
running BGP4 (Border Gateway Protocol) on all edge
routers with a 1 Gbps redundant link between them.
The Cisco
7507 edge routers are equipped with redundant DC power
supplies, dual DC power feeds and redundant RSP-8 Route
Switch Processors. This redundancy insures that the
failure of any single part of the router will not impact
operations.
The only
port adapters installed on these edge routers (100 Mbps)
are mounted on VIP4 model 50 Interface Processors. These
processors allow routing functions to be "pushed to the
edge" of the router, making the RSP-8 processors more
efficient and providing the highest speed edge routing
solution available from Cisco.
Our
Broadband Network consists of: Foundry Big Iron 8000's,
Big Iron 4000's, and FastIron Layer 2 and Layer 3
Switching Routers. We are utilizing OSPF (Open Shortest
Path First) Routing protocol for recovery on a
cross-meshed network with 1 Gigabit backbone connections
that have the ability to scale to 10 Gigabits. This
provides us an abundance of bandwidth for your traffic
needs.
All edge
router and server equipment is located in one of three
"tornado proof" hardened and secure data centers. To
address electrical power reliability, diverse feeds from
2 substation , batteries, and diesel generator backup
assure continuous operations.
A three pipe
chilled water system serves the underground’s cooling
requirements via redundant Liebert units to precisely
control the environment within each building. All system
chillers and ancillary equipment are located underground
to ensure continuous operations during a
natural/unnatural event. One of the many benefits of
being underground is that the natural air temperature is
60° - 64°F year-round, which serves to naturally provide
the ideal computing atmosphere. Additionally, two
dehumidification units maintain 50% humidity within the
common area to enhance the mine’s natural environment.
Fire suppression within each building is provided by
FM-200 fire protection systems. The common area is
protected by a double interlock zoned sprinkler system
to ensure loss prevention. Fire detection is not only
provided by standard smoke and ionization detection
systems, but also VESDA is utilized within areas of the
facilities, batteries, and diesel generator backup
assure continuous operations. |
